So….

I’ve been a little out of it lately. Not feeling very inspired to write or record the ridiculous things that occur around me on a daily basis. I think it has mostly been because I have either been traveling for work, been sick with the flu or caring for a child sick with the flu. Any one of those things can zap the inspiration right out of a girl.
Good news is…I feel better and I don’t have to travel for work for a month! Also, just re-connected with a very old friend and it was fabulous. Kevin and I are going to go visit her soon in the City and I just can’t wait. I promise lots of pictures and stories from that adventure because I can’t imagine there won’t be lots to tell!
In the meantime I have been reading Dooce as usual. She won like every Bloggie known to man. It must be really cool to have found your calling in life AND to be recognized for it. Can’t help but wonder…what is in store for me? What will my calling be? Or am I already doing it and I just don’t know it?
Readers – did you find your “calling”? Do you even believe in such things?

Dooce is amazing. Just saw your comment and clicked on your name. I had the exact same question after I heard about all her awards. When do you know? The fact I live in Utah and think of her as a celebrity…Truly she is incredible and talented.
i know exactly what you mean. I wonder – who are these people that do what they love and love what they do? What are they so darn passionate about anyway? Why do you feel like your life is balanced and happy, but that something is still missing? I personally will get really into something for a while…then flit on to something else…. and when I bring it up, people say, what are you talking about anyway?? You have passions! You were meant to help the Guatemalan women (or be a mom someday or…whatever it is at the moment)…. it’s tough, this thing called life!
Calling? Nope, don’t hear that phone a-ringing.
Generally speaking, little parts of everything you’ve experienced and done are the journey to the real passion. Believe me when you start to sense its picture it can take hold without reguard to circumstances. Most of the time we are so busy maintaining what is on our plate that we have no time to dream about what we really want and what has come naurally for us. Because most peope are somewhat settled and have made tha basic choices in life ;getting married, geting a job and just taking those steps that chronologically playout in life…………..that when we realize that theres more, much more to how we can do life..we are afraid to rock our secure little staid routine called life. Joy is not the motivator, security supercedes everything. Our logic is limiting us from risk because society says we should be happy with what we have. When you are on the path to personal bliss it defies logic. Start by creating a picture of how you would like to live, right down to the social hobbies and persoanl growth experiences that you want to attempt……………….many people find it through adversity, something that rocks you from the rut we call life. Seek and you will find………………………………….i promise. Find a righteous cause, a nitch unfilled, an idea that meets a need and don’t let anybody tell you no.Do what you love and the money will follow……………by the way, that never works in reverse.
I love Dooce, I’ve been reading her since she and Jon were dating back in LA. I remember when they got Chuck as a puppy! That was long before Leta and Utah…she’s really come a long way!
